The Idols of Sport series, which pays tribute to the great figures of Portuguese sport, continues with a coin designed by illustrator André Carrilho and dedicated to Carlos Lopes, a benchmark in long-distance athletics, who won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 and the gold medal in the marathon at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, beating the best Olympic time in the event.
