Odysseus, renowned in Greek culture for his bravery, intelligence, and resourcefulness, is elegantly immortalized on a 2-ounce silver coin. The traveller, depicted with a bow and arrow and famous for his unrivaled skill, is also celebrated by Homer, who composed the legendary Odyssey in his honor. Odysseuss adventures are symbolized by a gilded belt that secures his cloak and the imagery of a ship in the background, underscoring his perilous sea voyages. A mermaid on his shoulder recalls his clever escape from the Sirens tempting song, as well as his relentless quest to return to Ithaca and his beloved wife, Penelope.
The high-relief coin masterfully captures Odysseuss epic journey, blending exquisite craftsmanship with ancient legend.
