The 1 oz Orpheus coin illustrates a charming musician and a poet carrying a gilded lyre and singing. He is known as a founder of Orphic mysteries, which are based on his songs, and their central rite is animal sacrifice. Sitting near the lion and the deer, with birds flying around, Orpheus is in pain, suffering from losing his loved one. According to the legends, he descended into the underworld to restore her to mortality. Enchanting Orpheus was able to convey his emotions into works of art, which continue to fascinate everyone throughout the centuries.
