Colombian Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez mentioned a grand shipwreck of the San Jose galleon in his famous Love in the Time of Cholera novel. He wrote about a cargo of precious metals and stones valued at five hundred million pesos in the currency of the day. It was perhaps the richest cargo ever lost at sea. Meet our eye-catching San Jose silver coin with digital printing and high relief, depicting the mysterious shipwreck. The beautiful colorful picture creates a pretty contrast with the silver framing giving this coin artistic and aesthetic value.
